Directory of Tutors

Tŷ Elis has been recruiting and training Counsellors and Psychotherapists since 1996.  Many of our associate Counsellors have gone on to achieve senior positions in the academic, public and private sectors and continue to give their time and support to Tŷ Elis.  We have a wealth of knowledge about different aspects of Counselling in different sectors and practical experience of running a Counselling and Psychotherapy practice.  


The Tŷ Elis Diploma will be taught by the following experts:-

Michele Ryan (Course Co-ordinator)


Michele is our course co-ordinator and a volunteer Counsellor and supervisor with Tŷ Elis.  Michele also has a private practice where she sees individuals, couples and clients referred to her through an employee assistance programme.  Michele also teaches on a Counselling course at Cardiff University.  Michelle’s previous experience was in television production and university teaching.  Michele is a clinical associate in Family Therapy, at the Family Institute, University of South Wales.  She is a BACP member and a graduate in systemic Counselling, University of South Wales.

We will also bring in guest lecturers, with particular expertise, to support the course.

Billy Hardy (external adviser)


Billy is UKCP registered family and systemic Psychotherapist and accredited clinical supervisor.  He began his involvement with Tŷ Elis in the early 90s working as a therapist and clinical supervisor.  He has been a teacher in higher education having held posts at Swansea, the Open university in Wales and is currently a senior lecturer at the University of South Wales. He has also run a small private practice for many years.  He is currently working within the field at a national and international level and has recently become an associate of TAOS institute.

Ann Peacock (Tutor)


Ann is a volunteer Counsellor with Tŷ Elis. Her specialism is integrative therapy. Ann has her own private Counselling practice for adults and children aged 4 and above.  Ann graduated with a BSc (Hons) degree in Counselling from The University of South Wales Family Institute and is a BACP member.  Ann’s background is in adult and elderly nursing and she has over 10 years Counselling experience in the voluntary, public and private sector.


Julie Jones (Tutor)


Julie is a volunteer Counsellor with Tŷ Elis and has her own Private Practice working with adults, children and couples.  A Registered member of the BACP Julie also receives referrals from Employee Assistance Programmes and Insurance Companies.  Her specialism is in Integrative Therapy and she has particular expertise in working with anxiety and depression, loss, relationship issues and suicide ideation.  Julie has several years’ experience in the voluntary, public and private sector, has a background in coaching and mentoring and graduated with a BSc Honours Degree in Counselling from the Family Institute, University of Glamorgan.


Alleyne Jenkins (Tutor)


Alleyne is a volunteer Counsellor with Tŷ Elis and and an associate supervisor.  Alleyne qualified as a humanistic existential Counsellor although she has since gained a more integrative approach to Counselling.  Alleyne has a health care background and works  as an outreach Counsellor for  Cancer Information and Support services (CISS), a charity based in Swansea offering counseling to those affected by cancer.

Previously Alleyne worked as a GP for 17 years, has a diploma in therapeutic counseling and is BACP registered.


Sarah Wheatcroft (Tutor)


Sarah is a UKCP registered Systemic Psychotherapist and member of AFT.  She works therapeutically with adults and children in a variety of contexts within the voluntary, private and public sectors.  Over the past three years she has co-developed and worked within a new Family Therapy service at a children’s charity in Caerphilly.  Sarah also works with individuals, and has considerable experience in facilitating therapeutic well-being groups in the community using Mindfulness practice. Group work has also included running drama workshops for young people whose families have been affected by mental ill health.  Sarah graduated with a BSc in Nutrition and Dietetics at King’s College London, and with an MSc in Systemic Psychotherapy from the Family Institute, University of South Wales.
