Business Description

Tŷ Elis is a small charity based in a mid-Victorian terraced house in Porthcawl. The premises has four counselling rooms, a training room, offices and a conference room. All Tŷ Elis’s business is conducted from this site. Counselling sessions are offered from 10:00 - 6:45PM Monday to Thursday and from 10:00 - 3:00PM on Fridays.

Tŷ Elis has 1 Full Time Administrator and 1 part time Administrative Assistant, over 40 volunteer counsellors and 15 volunteer receptionists plus The Friends who fundraise on behalf of Tŷ Elis.

The environmental footprint of Tŷ Elis will be small; nevertheless Tŷ Elis is committed to reducing its impact on the environment. It also makes financial sense, and every penny really does count for a small charity, to reduce our environmental impact i.e. consumption, which in turn reduces costs.

Environmental Priorities and Targets

Based on our environmental impact assessment we have set the following environmental objectives and targets:-

Reduce gas and electricity consumption by managing the central heating system in conjunction with the diary of counselling sessions;
Seek advice from environmental consultants that support the third sector;
Continue to car share where possible and introduce a business Skype address;
Source local suppliers of goods and services where ever possible to help reduce delivery mileage and costs; and
Purchase improved printers and photocopiers to reduce paper usage.

Comply with environmental legislation and codes of practice;
Prevent pollution; and
Improve overall environmental performance.

Tŷ Elis has a full Environmental Policy and Action Plan which is reviewed by Trustees annually.
